About the team and position

As a Team Lead for the Third Party Transportation team, you will be focused on leading a team of specialists that are directing, monitoring, and coordinating Third Party fulfillment and operations to reduce transit times, increase on-time delivery, and enable the ideal customer experience (ICE) by delivering clear communications to internal and external customers. The qualifying candidate must love helping people and must be goal-oriented, enthusiastic, energetic, and self-motivated with the ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the organization.

What you'll be doing

  • Collaborate effectively with Purchasing, Market Operations, and Logistics Field Operations to ensure seamless execution across departments.
  • Assign carriers for all incoming pickup and delivery requests, proactively resolving logistics issues with urgency and professionalism.
  • Serve as the go-to authority in Carvana's logistics platforms—including JIRA, Towbook, ClearPath TMS, Quintiq—and drive adoption, training, and process consistency.
  • Oversee a team of Third Party Specialists, managing day-to-day operations, schedules, attendance, time off, and conducting regular check-ins.
  • Lead execution adjustments and course corrections, and engage stakeholders on project status, bottlenecks, and new initiatives.
  • Negotiate rates and terms with carrier partners and vendors, foster strong working relationships, and ensure compliance with SLAs.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and opportunities for process enhancements; collaborate with management to implement and track solutions.
  • Track and analyze team metrics—such as on‑time delivery, cost per shipment, and inventory accuracy—and provide concise performance reports to leadership.
  • Aid with delivery reconciliation, gate passes, vehicle tags, Dealshield access, and other logistical operations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you should have

  • 2+ years of supervisory/leadership experience.
  • 3+ years experience in logistics or similar field preferred.
  • Has an understanding of the Carvana logistics network and the overall effects of real-world constraints.
  • Has an ability to work with other team members and team leads, to solve problems, answer questions, and train on standard processes.
  • Expert skills in Excel utilized for ad hoc analysis.
  • Expert in Carvana's Logistics Management Systems.
  • Experience training others and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Experience in leading and training others.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Possess the energy and drive to accomplish goals, meet deadlines, and find solutions.

Other requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline like mathematics, operations research, supply chain, engineering preferred
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule
  • Sees the 'big picture' with the ability to get it done (task oriented)
  • High energy and the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills creating the ability to influence Operating units across the Carvana Network
