Position: Utility Locator Technician

Location: Phoenix, AZ, 85034

Duration: 6 Months

Job Type: Contract

Work Type: Onsite

Job Description:

• Uses various software to perform additional tasks involved with the daily operations of Cable Protection Operations.
• Maintains tools, test sets, and electronic equipment including, but not limited to fiber optic transmission equipment, lightwave multiplexing equipment, AC and DC power equipment.
• Identifies and marks all utility locations with paint and capture photos (Prove-IT) for upload to company systems as required.
• Protect cable and network infrastructure from damage due to faulty locations.
• Accesses and processes tickets through company systems.
• Uses various software to perform additional tasks involved with the daily operations of Cable Protection Operations.
• Updates site records, enter appropriate detailed log information on trouble tickets for reference and provides reports to others on status updates and issues related to assignment.

Scope of the work/project is:

• Utility locator, outside field work, be able to work in utilisphere which is a ticketing platform, read fiber prints and know the routes.
• Preferable if have safety gear vest, hard hat, steel toed boots -this is a must for the candidate. and locating wand

Size of the group this position will be supporting:

• Will be working with two other locators but once they have the lay of the land, will be working on own.
• Will only be working with others when issues arise

Top 3-5 skills / technologies and qualifications required:

• Tech Savy
• Trouble shooting skills
• Read tickets that come in systems = Utilisphere and be able to status these tickets on the website.

Non-technical Skills are necessary (such as communication, problem solving, team player, i.e.):

• Lift manhole covers
• Communication talk to contractors and determine exactly what they need to locate based on their timelines vs what they submitted on their ticket.
