Senior Configuration Management Specialist

Configuration Management activities include planning, documenting, and executing the processes and procedures necessary to ensure compliance with internal standards and contract requirements. The Senior Configuration Management Specialist will provide guidance and drive improvements to methods, procedures, and requirements. They act as a liaison between management and other functional groups to resolve issues regarding configuration analysis documentation. They support process documentation and engineering communication to external customers. The Senior Configuration Management Specialist has a high attention to detail and a data-focused technical aptitude needed to facilitate the execution of engineering activities.

Essential Functions:

• Lead and manage the configuration management (CM) activities for multiple projects, ensuring adherence to CM policies and standards
• Utilize configuration management tools and software to maintain accurate and up-to-date configuration records
• Structures and maintains databases, using engineering design drawings, parts lists, code, or other items to create and document baselines; verifies authorization for and incorporates all changes or additions to them
• Establish and maintain configuration baselines, ensuring accurate and controlled project documentation
• Develop and implement CM plans, policies, and procedures to streamline and enhance configuration processes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely configuration data management and reporting
• Acts as liaison between management and other functional groups to resolve issues regarding configuration analysis documentation
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize configuration management processes and tools
• Facilitates communication between engineering and customers via Engineering Change Memos (ECM) and Notifications of Change (NOC)
• Manage the engineering process document database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation
• Formats, reviews, prepares, and releases engineering documents such as manuals, procedures, analyses, reports, and specifications

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. A Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. Instead of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
• Experience with product lifecycle management systems and workflows (ex, Siemens Teamcenter, ARAS PLM)
• Experience in inputting and managing information into SAP or an equivalent ERP system
• Experience preparing, formatting, and reviewing technical documentation

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Knowledge of Configuration Management principles
• Experience with ClearQuest/ClearCase, Subversion, and SBM
• Experience with Remote Access tools
• Tool Administrator experience
• High attention to detail
