Position Title: Director of Nursing (DON)
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Director of Nursing is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all clinical and nursing operations within the organization. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care, maintains regulatory compliance, leads nursing staff development, and drives operational excellence. The ideal candidate is an experienced, compassionate clinical leader with strong communication, organizational, and management skills.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Management
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of all nursing services.

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable work culture that promotes excellence in patient care.

  • Develop staffing plans and ensure adequate coverage to meet clinical needs.

Clinical Operations
  • Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality nursing care aligned with organizational standards and best practices.

  • Oversee clinical assessments, care planning, documentation, and patient outcomes.

  • Monitor and improve quality indicators, patient satisfaction, and care processes.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including Arizona Department of Health Services requirements.

  • Prepare for and participate in surveys, audits, and inspections.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Investigate incidents and lead corrective action planning.

Communication & Collaboration
  • Serve as a primary clinical liaison with physicians, families, staff, and external partners.

  • Communicate effectively with administrative leadership regarding clinical performance, challenges, and opportunities.

  • Promote a patient- and family-centered approach to care.

Qualifications Required
  • Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Arizona.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN); Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.

  • Minimum 5+ years of nursing experience , with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role .

  • Knowledge of Arizona state regulations and healthcare compliance standards.

  • Strong leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Work Environment
  • Full-time, on-site position based in Phoenix, AZ.
