Construction Superintendent – Mesa, AZ Overview
A well-established commercial general contractor based in Mesa, Arizona, is looking for a Construction Superintendent that specializes in ground-up, wood-frame commercial and multifamily projects. With a reputation for delivering high-quality builds and fostering a team-driven environment, they are seeking a Construction Superintendent to take ownership of key projects in the Phoenix East Valley.
This is a high-priority hire due to a current gap in the field leadership team, and the role offers the opportunity to independently manage full-cycle construction projects with the support of a collaborative office and assistant superintendents. The company places high value on integrity, professionalism, and a proactive approach to communication and client satisfaction.
The RoleAs the Construction Superintendent, you’ll be the lead field representative on major construction sites—responsible for coordinating all trades, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering complex, ground-up multifamily builds and will have oversight of assistant superintendents and subcontractors. You’ll report directly to the company’s senior leadership and work closely with project managers, clients, and the broader project delivery team.
Success in this role looks like delivering safe, on-time, high-quality projects, leading from the front on-site, and proactively managing timelines, subcontractor performance, and project documentation.
ResponsibilitiesOversee all on-site construction activities for assigned projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to specification
Lead daily site coordination meetings and maintain clear communication with internal teams, subcontractors, and vendors
Develop and manage look-ahead schedules (2, 4, and 6-week) to proactively identify risks and sequencing needs
Supervise and mentor assistant superintendents and site staff
Ensure adherence to all safety protocols; maintain clean, organized, and compliant job sites
Utilize Procore and Bluebeam for construction documentation and reporting
Conduct quality control inspections and resolve any field issues quickly and effectively
Serve as the primary field liaison for clients and stakeholders, maintaining a professional and solutions-oriented presence
5+ years of experience as a Superintendent in ground-up, wood-frame commercial construction (multifamily experience strongly preferred)
Proven ability to lead projects independently from start to finish
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience using construction management software (Procore, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam)
OSHA 30 certification required
CPR/First Aid certification and LEED training encouraged
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Professional appearance and commitment to representing the company well on-site
Nice to Have:
Degree in Construction Management or related field
Base salary range: $95,000 – $150,000 - The company is open to exceeding this range for an exceptional candidate.
