The Cliffs Notes
We’re looking for a Payroll Manager to take ownership of Kinective’s end-to-end payroll function across multiple states. In this role, you’ll ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing while identifying opportunities to enhance systems and workflows. This position is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and ready to lead with both accuracy and empathy.

What You’ll Own

Payroll Processing: Manage bi-weekly payroll cycles for all employees across multiple states using Paylocity.
Commissions: Oversee the commissions process and ensure timeliness and accuracy.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws; stay current on legislative changes.
Tax c& Reporting: Over Perform payroll reconciliations, support internal/external audits, and maintain proper documentation and controls.
System Oversight: Serve as payroll system admin (Paylocity), partnering with HR and Finance to optimize system functionality and integrations.
Process Improvements: Identify and implement payroll process enhancements that improve efficiency and accuracy.
Audit & Reconciliation: Perform payroll reconciliations, support internal/external audits, and maintain proper documentation and controls.
Employee Support: Act as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, resolving issues with professionalism and care.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with HR, Legal, and Accounting to support compensation, benefits, and workforce changes.

Requirements
Necessary Qualifications:

5+ years of payroll experience, including at least 2 years in a payroll lead or supervisory role
Proven experience processing multi-state payroll in a cloud-based platform (Paylocity strongly preferred)
Deep understanding of payroll tax regulations, wage/hour laws, and payroll accounting practices

Bonus Points

CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification
Experience with Intacct, Paylocity or other accounting systems
Exposure to equity or bonus compensation plans
Experience supporting payroll in a high-growth environment

The Team
In this role, you would be a part of the Finance and reporting to our Assistant Controller.

Office Expectation
This role is HYBRID, with an expectation of 3-4 days a week in-office. Our hours are 8-5pm.
