About the Role:

As the Assistant Controller at Felix Construction, you will support the Controller in managing the company's financial operations. This role is integral to our Finance team and has a heavy focus on construction project accounting, financial reporting, and compliance.

This role reports directly to the Controller, who will provide guidance and support as you help drive Felix's continued success in the industrial construction industry. There is also the opportunity for a path to be promoted into the Controller role.

Core Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing the daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.


• Support project accounting for water infrastructure contracts, including tracking job costs and progress billings.


• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.


• Monitor project budgets and assist with cost control measures for water treatment, pump station, and facility construction projects.


• Coordinate with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking of construction activities.


• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.


• Support the preparation of financial information for external audits.


• Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.


• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.


• Provide analysis of financial performance and identify areas for improvement.

Core Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.


• 5-7 years of progressive construction accounting experience.


• Leadership and supervisory experience preferred.


• Accounting certification preferred (CPA, CMA, CCIFP).


• Knowledge of construction project accounting and percentage-of-completion.


• Experience with construction management software and ERP systems (Vista Viewpoint preferred).


• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.


• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Detail-oriented with high accuracy in work product.


• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software applications.


• Experience with job costing and government contract accounting in water infrastructure or public works projects preferred.
