About the Role:
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) is a developmental role designed to support the General Manager while gaining the skills experience and strategic perspective required to become a future General Manager (GM). The AGM assists with day-to-day operations, property initiatives, team leadership and cross-departmental collaboration while progressively taking on greater responsibility as proficiency grows. Working alongside the GM the AGM helps champion Macerich corporate initiatives, supports community and retailer partnerships and contributes to delivering an exceptional experience for tenants, guests and stakeholders.

What You Will Do:
Strategic Leadership & Property Operations
- Support the General Manager in developing a strong understanding of the asset market competition and stakeholder dynamics
- Assist in executing the property’s Five-Year Business Plan (5YP) learning to identify long-term opportunities and understanding strategic decision-making
- Help cultivate a positive workplace culture by supporting the GM in setting expectations communicating goals and monitoring performance
- Participate in developing and managing annual and multi-year operating and capital budgets and assist in analyzing financials to learn strategic fiscal management
- Contribute to maintaining a customer-focused shopping environment by supporting operational efficiencies, guest experience initiatives and resource-maximizing strategies
- Support cross-departmental collaboration-learning how to align on-site property priorities with corporate stakeholders and company KPIs
- Assist in managing operations service partners, vendor relationships and capital projects with a learning focus on ROI efficiency and sustainability
- Follow and help maintain compliance with safety environmental and accessibility regulations while learning regulatory requirements
- Participate in building and maintaining relationships with civic regulatory partners- observing and learning from the GM’s interactions
Asset Management Collaboration
- Support the GM in aligning property-level strategies with portfolio and 5YP objectives
- Assist in tracking and communicating capital needs leasing updates and redevelopment priorities
- Provide support in gathering and sharing market and tenant insights that inform broader asset strategies
Leasing Partnership
- Assist the GM in identifying local revenue opportunities such as sponsorships non-traditional uses and short-term leasing
- Support lease administration tasks including rent collection adherence to lease terms and communication with tenants to resolve operational matters
- Provide operational insights to Leasing and Specialty Leasing teams as directed by the GM
Marketing Support & Collaboration
- Assist the GM in providing strategic oversight of marketing initiatives to ensure alignment with Foundational and Strategic Marketing priorities
- Support the Marketing Manager’s execution of programs that elevate tenant relations community engagement and traffic/sales performance
- Help integrate marketing efforts with leasing operations and tenant objectives to promote cohesive property results
- Learn to evaluate marketing performance using key metrics such as campaign impact tenant participation and alignment with 5YP goals
Must be able to return to the property within 30 minutes due to unforeseen circumstances or emergencies.

What you bring:
- 2–4+ years of experience in shopping center management, hospitality, retail operations or related fields
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Real Estate or a related field preferred
- Demonstrated potential for leadership
- Foundational financial skills with interest in developing budgeting forecasting and analytical capabilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build relationships with tenants, teams and partners
- Curiosity adaptability and a desire for continuous learning and career advancement
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment with competing priorities

The compensation for this position is determined based on several factors, including the candidate's experience, qualifications, and the specific requirements of the role. Final salary offers will be discussed during the interview process and will reflect the candidate's skills and the company's compensation structure.
