Position Description

The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Part-time Recreation Program Assistant (Parks & Recreation Aide). The Recreation Program Assistant is responsible for recreational and specialized programmatic support as assigned. Responsibilities include: Assisting in planning recreational activities for the community; Identifying engaging activities for patrons of various ages and interests; Monitoring program participants during activities for safety and engagement level; Preparing, setting up, inspecting, and cleaning equipment and activity location before activities; Properly stores equipment after activity; Assisting running a routine program, such as after-school program; Ensuring participants have a safe and fun environment and experience; Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications

Ability to read, write and follow instructions; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience. Must have a Valid Arizona Class D Driver's License and a Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card Level 1 required. Candidates must be available to work afternoons starting after 3 PM, as well as nights and weekends . First Aid and CPR certifications preferred.

Special Working Conditions

Work environment is within the Tolleson Recreation Center with many events and programs in an outdoor and indoor setting. Must be willing to work occasionally in the extreme heat and cold. Recreation center may be loud at times and functions in a fast paced environment. May need to lift, pull up to 50 lbs. and standing in long periods of times, bending, stooping and active movement working with the public.

Physical Demands

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Job Information

Closing Date: Open until filled Hiring Salary: $16.56 Hourly

Full Salary Range for Position: $16.56-23.19 Hourly
