Day in the Life — Mesa, AZ

Morning in Mesa starts with a schematic open in Altium Designer. You’re shaping a new CCA that will live on a military aircraft, ensuring every trace supports reliable, secure data movement. Before lunch, you translate system goals into clear hardware and I/O requirements, mapping out UART, SPI, I2C, IrDA, USB, WiFi, RFID, TCP/IP, RS-485, and MIL-STD-1553 interfaces. The afternoon shifts to embedded software and firmware—debugging, updating, and validating behavior on the bench. You wrap by documenting results in specs, test plans, and reports, and sharing insights at a design review. Occasionally, you’ll travel to collaborate with teams or support integration and test.

What You'll Tackle

• Lead the design, development, and test of electrical systems and CCAs/PCBs that interface with military platforms, including aircraft.
• Architect, build, debug, and maintain electronic hardware for new and existing ICE products.
• Define and document system and data I/O requirements to ensure end-to-end performance.
• Design, implement, test, modify, install, and update embedded software and firmware.
• Evaluate designs, tools, and methods; recommend and implement improvements.
• Participate in design reviews, offering and receiving constructive technical feedback.
• Track industry advancements and incorporate innovative ideas into designs.
• Create and maintain specifications, verification plans, and engineering reports.
• Travel occasionally for collaboration, integration, or test support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering strongly preferred.
• 6+ years in electrical or computer engineering; or an Associate’s degree with 9+ years of electronic design experience (substituting for the Bachelor’s).
• Hands-on experience with digital communication hardware and protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, IrDA, USB, WiFi, RFID, TCP/IP, RS-485, and MIL-STD-1553.
• Extensive proficiency with Altium Designer.
• Proven background in CCA hardware and PWB/PCB development.
• Ability to operate independently and thrive in multi-disciplinary teams while prioritizing competing tasks.
• Encryption hardware experience is a plus.
• Ability to obtain Security Clearance is required.
