The Salvation Army Glendale Corps is looking to fill a Social Service Coordinator position. The successful candidate for this position will have experience in a social service capacity, have knowledge of local community resources and be able to demonstrate a positive attitude and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. The Social Service Coordinator will have responsibility for the operation of Social Service programs at the Glendale Corps which will include but are not limited to Food Bank Program, Utility Assistance, Rental Assistance and the Pathway to Hope Program. Responsibilities will include determining eligibility, maintaining records, monitoring costs, overseeing staff, managing volunteers, inventory control, case management, and promotion of special events, intake of clients, and securing outside vendors to aide clients such as motels, transportation, and other related providers.

QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree in social work or related field required. (MSW preferred)
• Experience in a social service capacity may substitute for education in a 2:1 ratio
• Excellent knowledge of local community resources required
• Demonstrate a positive attitude & an ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds & circumstances
• Able to maintain a non-judgmental demeanor, using a professional approach and maintaining boundaries with clients
• Able to handle crisis/emergency services for the homeless & working poor by utilizing crisis intervention, & conflict resolution skills
• A proven ability to maximize services with budgetary constraints
• Ability to quickly become proficient in Salvation Army approved Social Service programs & network requirements
• Computer literate & proficient in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook
• Ability to work in an office setting & operate office equipment
• Must be able to type 50 wpm.
• Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license and clean MVR & pass The Salvation Army Fleet Safety e-learning
• Ability to pass a criminal background check

Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
