Job Description
This is a 3-month, full-time, paid internship opportunity as a Draftsman Trainee. It is designed for candidates who may not have the traditional education, hands-on experience, or technical experience typically required in the industry. This internship will introduce you to the industry, drafting technology, structural steel, and technical graphics. You will learn on the job and be evaluated on your skills, with the goal of being hired as a full-time employee upon successful completion of the internship.
Responsibilities
- Learn AISC detailing for steel construction.
- Understand basic drawing reading and technical graphics.
- Engage in CAD detailing.
- Perform data entry and inputting for various CNC machines.
- Manage document control.
- Handle document processing and file transmission.
- Ability to create, manipulate, and read structural fabrication drawings.
- Intermediate math skills in basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in software such as Autodesk, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office, Peddinghaus, Shop Data, SDS/2, and Tekla.
- Focus, attention to detail, and willingness to learn from mistakes.
- Ability to work individually and in small groups.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in technical graphics, drafting principles, and relevant education is preferred.

Work Environment
Interns will spend approximately six hours per day sitting and working at a computer, with the remaining time spent walking or standing. You may occasionally handle rolls of structural drawings and enter the shop as needed. The work environment is conducive to learning and growth, providing exposure to various technologies and equipment essential in the field.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $19.50/hr.
