Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) - Database, SQL & Stored Procedure Testing

**Position Overview:**
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with strong expertise in database testing, stored procedure validation, and mocking techniques. This role focuses on ensuring data integrity, validating backend functionality, and implementing automated tests for database-driven applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in mocking database interactions, automating stored procedure tests, and working with complex SQL queries to ensure data consistency and system performance.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks for database and backend testing.
+ Create and execute test cases for stored procedures, triggers, and database functions to validate business logic and data consistency.
+ Implement mocking techniques to simulate database interactions and isolate testing components.
+ Develop and maintain unit and integration tests using mocking frameworks (e.g., Mockito, JMock, WireMock).
+ Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to integrate database tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
+ Perform SQL query validation to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across environments.
+ Conduct API testing to validate database interactions using tools like Postman or RestAssured.
+ Identify and report performance bottlenecks in database queries and stored procedures.
+ Implement data-driven and schema validation tests for database changes.
+ Research and apply best practices for database testing, data virtualization, and test data management.
**Required Skills & Qualifications:**
+ 6+ years of experience in database and backend testing.
+ Strong knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and stored procedure testing.
+ Proficiency in mocking techniques for database interactions (Mockito, JMock, WireMock, etc.).
+ Hands-on experience with unit testing frameworks (JUnit, NUnit, TestNG).
+ Expertise in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers for test validation.
+ Experience in CI/CD automation (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
+ Familiarity with API testing (Postman, RestAssured, SoapUI).
+ Strong problem-solving and debugging skills for database-related issues.
+ Experience with test data management and creating reusable datasets.
**Nice to Have:**
+ Experience with automated test frameworks for mobile and web apps (Appium, Selenium, Playwright).
+ API test automation using Postman, RestAssured, Karate.
+ Proficiency in Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, or Kotlin.
+ Performance testing of databases using JMeter or Gatling.
+ Knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) and their testing approaches.
+ Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
+ Familiarity with security testing for database vulnerabilities.
+ Understanding of cloud-based database solutions (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
**Compensation:** - $110,000 to $115,000 +/- and this position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans. Application will be accepted by 1/04/2026
