Patient Service Representative
The Patient Service Representative serves as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and internal teams, delivering exceptional service while ensuring efficient and accurate access to care. This role supports patient scheduling, registration, communication, and coordination of services in a fast‑paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule, register, cancel, and manage patient appointments for multiple providers using established scheduling criteria and department guidelines.
- Respond to a high volume of phone, fax, email, and electronic communications with a strong emphasis on accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism.
- Provide patients with information regarding clinic services, hours of operation, directions, billing inquiries, and referrals to appropriate departments.
- Assist new patients by explaining available services, care processes, and provider availability.
- Communicate referral and authorization statuses clearly and timely to patients.
- Utilize approved phone scripts, clinical decision trees, and independent judgment (within scope of training) to assess appointment type, urgency, and appropriate routing of patient inquiries.
- Deliver clear and accurate pre‑procedure and exam preparation instructions, including laboratory requirements and other necessary preparations.
- Send complete and accurate communications to internal teams, physicians, and external healthcare providers.
- Ensure timely patient discharges and transfers while adhering to safety policies for patients and staff.
- Appropriately utilize supplies and actively participate in recycling and re‑use initiatives.
Training
- Role‑specific onboarding and systems training provided.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a patient‑focused healthcare environment.
- Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) diploma or certification preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Commitment to patient safety, service excellence, and operational efficiency.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
