Opportunity In this position of Senior Electrical Designer, you will lead and coordinate the design and development of electrical systems for a variety of industrial, mining, and energy projects across North America. This role is ideal for an experienced and motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is looking to take on a leadership role guiding design teams and interfacing clients and project managers. As a Senior Electrical Designer, you will oversee the technical quality, coordination, and delivery of electrical design packages, ensuring that all work meets project requirements, schedule, and industry standards. You will serve as a key mentor to junior designers and technologists while coordinating multi-discipline efforts across projects. Your Key Responsibilities As a Senior Electrical Designer, you will lead and coordinate the development of electrical models and design documentation for diverse projects in the global Energy and Resources sector. You will oversee design quality, ensure compliance with project and industry standards, and collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and other disciplines to produce integrated 2D and 3D electrical designs. In addition to managing complex design tasks, you will review deliverables, coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces, and mentor junior team members to maintain consistency and excellence across all project stages. Below are some of the responsibilities but not limited to: - Lead the development and coordination of electrical design models and documentation for small to large-scale projects within the Energy and Resources Sector. - Provide technical leadership and mentorship to designers and technologists, ensuring design consistency, accuracy, and quality across all deliverables. - Actively participates in the development of design and junior engineering staff through work on projects as well as serving as a trainer, mentor and resource for junior design staff. - Actively participates in the development of design and junior engineering staff through work on projects as well as serving as a trainer, mentor and resource for junior design staff. - Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other discipline leads to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with civil, mechanical, and structural components. - Develop and review electrical design concepts, layouts, and system configurations using 2D and 3D modeling software. - Perform and review electrical calculations for system components using company-standard and manufacturer-specific software. - Manage the preparation and quality control of electrical drawings, schematics, and documentation packages. - Participate in project planning, scheduling, and progress meetings to provide input on design deliverables and resource requirements. - Identify design risks, technical issues, and constructability challenges early in the design process and implement corrective actions as needed. - Support business development efforts through technical input on proposals and estimates. Your Capabilities and Credentials - Proven experience leading and coordinating electrical design teams on multi-discipline projects. - Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and/or Inventor; experience with Aveva, MicroStation, and Bluebeam is an asset. - In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards including IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, and NEC. - Proficiency in performing and reviewing electrical system calculations and layouts, including medium- and low-voltage systems (switchgear, MCCs, substations, etc.). - Experience developing and reviewing: - Single-line diagrams, grounding plans, and schematic drawings. - Conduit and cable tray routing layouts, cable schedules, and installation details. - Experience with lighting design software such as Visual or similar tools is an asset. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead meetings, coordinate across disciplines, and interact directly with clients and project stakeholders. - Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. - Demonstrated ability to identify technical challenges and provide innovative, practical solutions. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant engineering software tools. Education and Experience - Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Minimum of 12 years of experience focused upon delivery of electrical design packages. - REVIT and AutoCAD education and experience are required; certifications are a plus. Office Location and Schedule - Typical office environment, working with computers and drawings for extended periods of time on a regular basis. Field work may include exposure to hazards including construction, weather, and industrial operations that may be experienced at infrastructure facilities. - Hybrid work model to work from home is possible. - Location - Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, California. - Willing and able to travel. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
