Billing Supervisor

In Patient Integrity, you focus on the accuracy, privacy and integrity of patient financial and medical information. You help patients understand their bills, protect their data and ensure that aged accounts are handled in a structured, compliant and respectful way.

Position Summary:
The Patient Integrity Supervisor leads the teams that safeguard patient records and aged accounts for all Falck US Markets. You provide day‑to‑day leadership for Medical Records, Attorney Relations and Late-Stage Collections, and you may take on related functions over time.
You make sure that medical and billing records are handled in line with privacy and security requirements, that balance and account‑related enquiries are answered clearly and respectfully, and that aged accounts are worked in a structured and compliant way. You work closely with Revenue Cycle, Operations and other stakeholders to support a consistent, patient‑centered billing experience and strong data integrity.
This role is based at the RCM office in Mesa, AZ and may be performed in a remote or hybrid arrangement, as agreed with leadership.

Essential Functions:
Lead and support Patient Integrity teams
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership and supervision for the Medical Records, Attorney Relations and Late-Stage Collections teams.
- Recruit, select, onboard and develop team members to meet high standards of accuracy, compliance and service.
- Set clear expectations, performance metrics and behavioral standards aligned with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee staffing and scheduling, including timecard management, approved leave and basic IT access needs.
- Support performance management, including feedback, coaching and, when needed, corrective action in collaboration with People & Culture.
Oversee Medical Records (custodian of records)
- Oversee the release and management of patient medical and billing records in line with Falck policies, Federal and state regulations, and applicable privacy and security requirements.
- Ensure requests for records are processed within agreed timeframes and with a high degree of accuracy and completeness.
- Promote sound documentation practices to uphold data integrity and readiness for internal and external review or audit.
Manage Attorney Relations
- Supervise activities related to accounts and enquiries for patients who have attorney representation.
- Support professional, timely and accurate communication with attorneys and their offices regarding balances, settlements and medical record requests.
- Maintain consistent processes for handling disputes, balance enquiries and related follow‑up, in line with internal guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Lead Collections and aged accounts
- Lead collections activities related to aged accounts receivable, including skip tracing and structured follow‑up on aged outstanding balances.
- Ensure team members use tools, scripts and workflows that support respectful, compliant and effective collection efforts.
- Monitor work queues, aged inventory and follow‑up activities so that accounts are worked in a timely and policy‑compliant way.
Collaborating and Process Improvement
- Work with Revenue Cycle, Operations and other departments to support a clear, consistent and patient‑centered financial experience.
- Review trends and issues within Medical Records, Attorney Relations and Collections to identify process gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and regular review of standard operating procedures and work instructions for the teams under your supervision.
- Help ensure that team practices align with Falck policies, contractual obligations and relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Handle complex or escalated enquiries from patients, attorneys, payors and internal partners in a calm, respectful and solution‑oriented way, and use insights from these cases to improve processes and communication.
Support reporting, quality and compliance
- Monitor and report on key indicators such as turnaround times, documentation quality, enquiry resolution and collections effectiveness, as defined by leadership.
- Support internal and external audits by helping to ensure adherence to documentation, record‑handling and collections processes.
- Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, privacy and compliance within the team and address identified gaps promptly.
Other duties
- Perform other related duties as assigned, recognizing that the responsibilities and scope of the Patient Integrity function may evolve with Falck’s strategic and operational needs.

The individual in this position should have:
- Have experience in Revenue Cycle Management, medical billing, healthcare operations, or a similar data‑ and process‑heavy environment.
- Have previously led people or been a strong informal lead (e.g. senior biller, lead, or supervisor) and are ready for a formal people‑manager role.
- Are comfortable working with billing platforms (ideally Logis or similar) and payor portals, and you’re not afraid of learning new tools.
- Working knowledge of patient privacy requirements and compliant record‑handling practices.
- Experience in collections, aged accounts or skip tracing within a regulated environment (preferred).
