Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students with visual impairments in the greater Phoenix area. This full-time position spans the academic year, from early August through late May, and involves working across multiple school sites, possibly including some virtual assignments. You'll play a critical role in fostering independence and academic success for K-12 learners, collaborating closely with educators and staff to deliver tailored instruction and support.
Qualifications:
- Valid Arizona Standard Secondary Teaching License
- K-12 Certificate or Endorsement in Visually Impaired Special Education
- Possession of an IVP Fingerprint Card
- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired is highly valued
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and adapt to multiple locations as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments based on IEPs
- Adapt curricula and develop specialized teaching materials to address students’ unique needs
- Offer guidance and resources to classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and families
- Assess student progress and adjust intervention strategies accordingly
- Travel between assigned schools to provide consistent, high-quality support
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with district policies
