Faraday recently announced it has entered a letter of intent to acquire BHP’s San Manuel property in Arizona, creating the potential for a multi-asset copper district in the USA. As we transition from exploration to project development, we are seeking a strategic and hands-on Core Technician to build and lead this function in Arizona.

We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious individual to support core processing activities at our Copper Creek exploration project, based at the Redhawk Exploration offices in San Manuel, Arizona.

Primary Responsibilities

  • To place core boxes on the tables at the core shack, ensure drill hole specifics and footage in the core boxes is correctly labelled.
  • Clean the core of any mud or dust derived from drilling.
  • Validate depths and marks on core blocks and apply corrections as needed.
  • Conduct feet – meter conversions and add meter marks to the core.
  • Validate core orientation lines and conduct site specific orientated interval confidence logs, as required.
  • Collect core photography, magnetic susceptibility measurements, spectral point measurements and density tests utilizing the respective equipment, data depositories and software.
  • Conduct core transport to/from site to laboratory and/or warehouse, as required.
  • Conduct routine field checks as required.
  • Other core shack or field tasks as needed.
  • Intake, handling, moving of drill core boxes and pallets with a pallet jack, forklift, or by hand.
  • Setting out boxes on tables, open boxes arrange in order, checking then for block footage errors.
  • Photographing drill core, QA/QC of photo quality, labeling and storing of core photos.
  • Conduct specific gravity measurements, point load, and/or various in-situ tests.
  • Cut core as per training procedure with automatic or manual wet saw, checking for and inserting QA/QC samples.
  • Complete cutting logbook/sheet and complete lab analysis form.
  • Palletize logged and sampled core boxes and store on appropriate shelf in warehouse.
  • Deliver sampled core/chips to assay lab on mine site as required.
  • Preparing samples and maintaining shipment batch lists for outside laboratory pick-up.
  • Maintain good housekeeping at all times, ensure proper PPE and tools are used for all tasks.
  • Clean warehouse daily, including sweeping floors and cleaning sawing and sample room at end of each shift.
  • Operate forklift as per proper training, moving core skids with core or samples and other materials.
  • Take part in storing pulps and rejects as required.
  • Efficiently manage their time to achieve objectives.
  • Assist geologists as required.

Requirements:

Physical Demands

  • Ability to understand, follow, and communicate work assignments, procedures, and safety requirements in English. Must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, and lift or carry up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to lift 50 lb. boxes from pallets to tables throughout the day.
  • Must pass and maintain respirator fit-testing requirements, including being clean-shaven when necessary to ensure proper respirator fit.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
  • Good communication skills, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Experience with digital data entry, comfortable with use of computers, tablets and digital data files.
  • Comfortable with math, the use of calculators and measuring tapes.
  • Experienced with digital cameras and digital picture file types is an asset.
  • OSHA/MSHA training, forklift operator training, is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working as a geotechnical technician is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles in remote and rugged terrain.
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment screening
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
