Position Summary
The Breakfast Attendant / Houseperson ensures a clean, welcoming environment for guests by preparing and servicing the daily breakfast and supporting housekeeping and public-area cleanliness throughout the hotel. The role combines guest-facing breakfast service with back-of-house housekeeping support.
Key Responsibilities
Breakfast Attendant Duties
· Set up the breakfast area and buffet before service, including preparing and stocking food, beverages, utensils, and supplies.
· Monitor and replenish all breakfast items to ensure food and drinks are available and presented according to brand and food-safety standards.
· Greet guests, answer questions about breakfast offerings, and provide basic assistance such as serving beverages, providing condiments, and helping with special requests.
· Keep the breakfast dining area clean and organized by wiping tables, clearing dishes, removing trash, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors as needed during and after service.
· Properly break down the breakfast area at the end of service, store reusable food items and supplies, and clean and sanitize equipment, counters, and service lines in compliance with health regulations.
Houseperson Duties
· Support room attendants by delivering linens, amenities, and supplies to guest room floors and housekeeping closets, maintaining proper par levels.
· Collect and transport soiled linen and trash from guest floors and housekeeping closets to designated areas throughout the shift.
· Assist with basic room and public-area tasks such as stripping beds, removing trash, vacuuming hallways, cleaning windows and mirrors, and restocking guest supplies in common areas.
· Clean and maintain public areas (lobby, corridors, stairwells, restrooms, and other assigned spaces), including dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing high-touch surfaces.
· Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment/fixtures to the appropriate supervisor promptly.
Guest Service and Standards
· Provide friendly, professional, and responsive service to all guests, addressing questions and concerns or promptly referring them to the appropriate department.
· Adhere to all hotel, brand, and safety policies including food safety, cleaning chemical use, and personal hygiene requirements.
· Maintain a neat, professional appearance and follow uniform and grooming standards at all times.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Prior experience in hospitality, food service, or housekeeping is helpful but not required; on-the-job training provided.
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry up to approximately 40–50 pounds, and to perform physical tasks for extended periods.
· Strong customer-service attitude, reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail; must be able to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
