The position is located in Sells, AZ.
Position Summary:
Under general supervision, provides outreach services and orients new clients.
The work is normally reviewed upon completion, with occasional spot checks while in process, to ensure accuracy, timeliness and conformance to established standards; major work tasks are covered by instructions or procedures and unusual situations are referred to a supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists clients with job search and other resources available.
- Schedules and prepares monthly calendars on employability skills workshops.
- Prepares classroom, materials and supplies needed for individual client education plans.
- Participates and facilitates during in-service training to clients; facilitates presentation to the Tohono O'odham Nation departments and programs; prepares training materials.
- Performs initial screening to determine eligibility of services; conducts program eligibility and assessment intakes.
- Performs orientation for all new clients.
- Develops case management plans with program career developers, arrange appointments, refer clients to other agencies and resources, and notify program of changes in the client's situation.
- Provides crisis intervention by responding and referring to client needs during acute emotional and/or physical stress.
- Attends weekly meetings to ensure effectiveness and efficient treatment of all cases.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge and skills by attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and trainings.
- Creates correspondences, reports, minutes, agendas, case notes and memos from recording or verbal instructions.
- Performs minor bookkeeping assignments.
- Works as a community liaison for presentations and resource mapping on the Tohono O'odham Nation; gathers statistics and provides reports on the number of clients using the center's services.
- Maintains linkage with One Stop Programs in Tucson, Phoenix, and Casa Grande to provide transitional services for clients.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned and contributes to a team effort.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of adult development and learning patterns.
- Knowledge of the Tohono O'odham culture, customs, and traditions.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of computer software.
- Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.
- Skill in conducting interviews for individuals for successful job placements.
- Skill in providing superior customer service to external and internal customers.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees and the general public.
- Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to work extended hours and various work schedules.
- Ability to travel throughout the internal and external boundaries of the Nation.
- Ability to maintain privileged confidential information.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Education, Social Work or closely related field, and three years' work experience in an employment field; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
Licenses, Certifications, Special Requirements:
- Must be Arizona Workforce Connection Certified within six months of hire.
- Must complete Case Management Training within nine months of hire.
- Must obtain certifications in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid within the first six months of hire.
- Upon recommendation for hire, a criminal background and National FBI check is required to determine suitability for hire, including a 39-month Motor Vehicle Record.
- May require possessing and maintaining a valid driver's license, (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years).
- If required, must meet the Tohono O'odham Nation tribal employer's insurance requirements to receive a driver's permit to operate program vehicles.
- Based on the department's needs, incumbents may be required to demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O'odham Language and English as a condition of employment.
