Assistant Project Environmental Planner- Phase I ESA
SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a new Assistant Project-Level Environmental Planner . We offer remote, hybrid, and in-office work options. As a valuable member of the team, you will support our growing group of scientists and partner directly with senior Environmental Professionals to prepare Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) reports in support of utility-scale renewable energy projects nationwide.
Responsibilities will include writing ASTM-standard Phase I ESAs, collecting data, conducting landowner interviews, providing guidance to field staff, and preparing report figures. Fieldwork is limited and may include site assessments and data collection for local sites. In this position, you will be trained to actively support projects and clients from site planning to post-construction. Responsibilities will include assisting with data interpretation and tabulations, as well as scientific report writing (ASTM Phase I Environmental Site Assessments). These projects occur concurrently with biological and cultural resources investigations and you will interact with those teams as well. This position is an hourly, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

What you will accomplish:- Prepare ASTM Phase I ESAs under the guidance of a senior Environmental Professional
- Collaborate with SWCA’s biologists, cultural resources teams, NEPA planners, and other specialists.
- Conduct fieldwork for local projects.
- Perform assignments under the guidance of an Environmental Professional or Project Manager.
- Attend meetings with regional and national clients to discuss projects and project findings.
- Assist with field data QA/QC.
- Assist with proposals, budgets, project planning, and project implementation.
- Assist with certain project management tasks.
Minimum qualifications :
- A bachelor’s degree in an environmental related field
- At least two years of experience authoring/leading ASTM-standard Phase I ESAs
- Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail
- Experience in environmental consulting or a related field
- Proficient in MS Office products
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record and your own transportation
- Ability to be flexible, travel, and work outside in most weather conditions
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time while meeting deadlines
- Ability to interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

This position allows remote, hybrid, and in-office work options; proximity to an SWCA office is preferred. An employee in this Arizona-based position can expect an hourly rate of $26.00 - $33.00 . Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements, where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
