IT Systems Engineer
UNACEM North America is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive IT Systems Engineer to plan, implement, and maintain the organization’s IT strategy in alignment with current and future business needs. This role is responsible for overseeing IT systems, infrastructure, and security while ensuring reliable performance and effective support for employees.
Responsibilities:
IT Strategy & Projects:
- Plan, implement, and maintain the IT strategy that supports the current and future needs of the company.
- Research, develop, and implement IT and plant-related projects to enhance business operations.
Systems & Infrastructure Maintenance:
- Perform all aspects of server and IT systems maintenance to assure peak performance and minimize downtime.
- Build, configure, deploy, and maintain client computers, servers, and IT infrastructure.
- Monitor system performance, apply updates/patches, and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal operation.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support to employees and team members, ensuring timely and effective resolution of IT issues.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to computers, servers, networks, and applications.
- Support, install, and configure systems while implementing security measures to protect company assets.
Backup & Disaster Recovery:
- Plan, implement, and maintain backup hardware and software.
- Implement and manage all company data backup solutions and disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
Additional Duties:
- Stay current on industry trends and continuously further training in an evolving IT environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Education & Experience:
- 3+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer.
- 2–4 years of experience in IT support, followed by 2–4 years as an IT Systems Administrator.
- Cement, construction, or manufacturing industry experience is a plus but not required.
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology with 4 years of relevant work experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology with 2 years of relevant work experience, or
- IT certifications with 6 years of relevant work experience.
Technical Proficiency:
- Experience with rack network/server equipment.
- Skilled in running and terminating cables (copper and fiber).
- Proficient in deploying computer systems and IT hardware such as wireless networking equipment and cameras.
- Familiarity with computer tools (e.g., cable testers).
Skills:
- Excellent communication and business skills.
- Strong decision-making ability and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
