Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed analysis of contract documents, engineering drawings (including isometric and as-built), and specifications for large, complex projects across delivery models including hard bid/lump sum, construction management, and design-build.

• Identify overall project requirements such as bonding, insurance, and general conditions.

• Develop and validate critical path schedules, milestone dates, and completion timelines aligned with contract requirements.

• Complete comprehensive quantity take-offs for labor, equipment, and materials for large scopes of work.

• Review current material pricing and equipment rates; account for escalation, procurement strategy, and bid validity.

• Lead pricing of general expenses and project-specific general requirements for medium to large projects.

• Support final bid reviews and oversee preparation and submission of tender documents in collaboration with the Chief Estimator.

• Conduct detailed risk and opportunity analyses and contribute to the project risk register.

• Collaborate with external consultants, clients, and project management teams to develop budgets and coordinate the full tender process.

• Analyze historical cost data and benchmarking information to improve estimate accuracy and competitiveness.

• Understand client business drivers, revenue goals, and project success criteria; provide value-driven solutions.

• Advise leadership on strategic pursuit initiatives and high-value opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline; trade background or equivalent experience considered.

• Professional estimating certification preferred (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar U.S. credential).

• 9+ years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating; field experience preferred.

• Proven success leading pursuits up to $250M across delivery models including hard bid/lump sum, GMP, target price, design-build, and cost-reimbursable.

• Experience estimating self-perform work with strong understanding of productivity and labor rates.

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, scheduling, and risk identification.

• Advanced expertise in quantity take-offs, subcontractor procurement, pricing strategy, and bid closing procedures.

• Thorough understanding of contract language across multiple delivery models with ability to identify risk and opportunity.

• Ability to lead and mentor estimating teams through complex pursuits.

• Highly organized, resourceful, and self-motivated with strong multitasking skills.

• Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with owners, partners, and industry stakeholders to create competitive advantage.
