Desert Star Community School, a public charter inspired by the principles of Waldorf education, is seeking a full-time Games & Woodwork Teacher for the 2025–2026 school year.

Located in the red rock country of Northern Arizona, Desert Star serves students from kindergarten through 8th grade in a nurturing, nature-connected environment. Our mission is to cultivate the unique potential of each student through a balanced education of the head, heart, and hands.

This position is a rich and vital role in the life of our school. The Games & Woodwork Teacher:

• Leads Waldorf-appropriate games and movement for upper grades students, cultivating cooperation, rhythm, spatial awareness, and joy in healthy movement.
• Teaches woodwork to grades 5–8 , guiding students through practical, artistic, and skillful engagement with wood as a natural material.
• Participates fully and helps lead in the festival life of the school , bringing presence, artistry, and support to seasonal celebrations and community events.
• Accompanies and supports students on field trips and outdoor learning experiences , helping bring a spirit of adventure and practical care.

Qualifications:

• Interest in and/or experience with Waldorf education, particularly games and handwork in the upper grades.
• Practical woodworking experience, with an ability to bring developmentally-appropriate projects to students.
• A love of working with children in both movement and practical arts.
• Flexibility, collaboration, and enthusiasm for working as part of a faculty dedicated to the whole development of the child.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Waldorf teacher training or related experience preferred.
