Job Title: Network Construction Project Manager – Fiber & Small Cell
Location: Chandler, AZ
Schedule: Hybrid – Approximately 60% in-office and 40% in-field (Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM AZ time)
Expenses: Mileage reimbursement when traveling; standard cell phone charges covered
Position Summary:
The Network Construction Project Manager – Fiber & Small Cell is responsible for managing all aspects of small cell and fiber construction projects, including planning, coordination, design review, vendor management, and financial tracking. The role requires strong experience in node and small cell construction and telecom project management .
This position involves coordinating with internal teams such as Engineering, Permitting, Regulatory, Operations, and Project Delivery to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects. The Project Manager will oversee field activities, maintain communication with vendors, and ensure adherence to quality, safety, and scheduling standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create work packages for vendors, coordinate construction schedules, and manage field operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Review and manage fiber and small cell construction designs, including OSP (bore, trench, aerial placement, leased duct).
- Oversee node and power construction (foundations, poles, power installations, RF component installation, and troubleshooting).
- Manage construction crews and ensure compliance with 811 utility location processes and safety best practices.
- Prepare and submit purchase orders; process contractor invoices for fiber and small cell projects.
- Support project financials and milestone management including forecasting, PO issuance, and invoice reconciliation.
- Communicate construction progress, issues, and variances to management in a timely manner.
- Develop progress reports, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and resolve workflow or scheduling conflicts.
- Communicate with vendors regarding construction timelines, milestones, safety compliance, and billing.
- Maintain and update company systems and tools; attend cross-functional meetings.
- Ensure close-out packages and service delivery documentation meet company standards.
Education / Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license required
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
Experience / Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of telecommunications or wireless construction experience
- Knowledge of Outside Plant (OSP) construction techniques (aerial and underground)
- Proficiency in small cell construction and node build processes
- Familiarity with OTDR, PIM, and SWEEP testing
- Understanding of NESC, NEC, and OSHA standards
- Experience managing vendors, budgets, and construction schedules
