Summary

Evaluate, maintain, and update land rights spatial data through the interpretation and mapping of survey exhibits, plats, and associated land rights documents. Performs in‑depth review and GIS mapping to ensure spatial accuracy, legal consistency, and support for automated land rights processes within SRP’s corporate GIS environment.

What You'll Do

  • Performs GIS task such as analysis, design, programming, testing and implementation.
  • Commands an in-depth technical knowledge of board spectrum of GIS and spatial software demonstrated by the ability to effectively integrate software and hardware to facilitate production of complex GIS products and analysis.
  • Develops, establishes and tests applications for implementation, converting and maintaining GIS applications and databases.
  • Troubleshoots project design, files, directories, hardware and software in order to maintain a producing environment.
  • Instructs and monitors land analysts, survey, and other land department personnel in the use of GIS, software and spatial applications.
  • Maintains computer files, directories, databases, procedures and application documentation.
  • Applies working knowledge of the principles of survey, legal descriptions and fundamentals of land base mapping in development of graphic products.
  • Manages complex and high volume workloads.
  • Works with managers, supervisors and analysis in the development and production of GIS applications.
  • Performs GIS, cartographic and technical spatial production work.
  • Attends training classes, seminars, or conferences to remain knowledgeable or GIS applications.
  • Prepares and or conducts written and oral presentations.
  • Assumes duties and responsibilities of a higher classification, if designate, for upward mobility training.
  • Interprets construction documents and various other source documents to assist in the construction, maintenance and validation of SRP's corporate GIS database.

Experience

  • For a Level 1 (Associate), a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience is required (if no degree, four-six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling four-six years).
  • For a Level 2 (Journey), a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experience is required (if no degree, six-eight years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling six-eight years).
  • For a Level 3 (Senior), a minimum of five years of related experience is required (if no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years).

Preferred Qualifications

  • GIS Certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of date processing concepts related to land records, including recording and effective dates, and the management of term, duration, and expiration of temporary documents within GIS.
  • Ability to analyze problems and determine an appropriate course of action.
  • Interpersonal sensitivity.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues in an effort to accomplish team goals and tasks.
  • Ability to work under stress. Flexibility in work hours to accommodate workload.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others in both written and oral situations.
  • Strong technical GIS mapping systems knowledge including the ability to interpret, manipulate, attribute, and query land records within a complex Smallworld GIS environment accompanied by land rights repository.
  • Applies a working knowledge of the fundamentals of land base mapping to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and validation within LRIMS dataset.
  • Demonstrated mastery in reading, interpreting, and accurately modeling legal descriptions, including metes and bounds, subdivision plats, and aliquot part descriptions.
  • Knowledge of date processing concepts related to land records, including recording and effective dates, and the management of term, duration, and expiration of temporary documents within GIS.

Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
