Responsibilities: include performing general janitorial duties like sweeping and trash removal, operating high-powered cleaning equipment, and handling specialized tasks such as cleaning machinery, decontaminating work areas, removing hazardous waste, and using pressure washers. A strong focus on safety regulations, physical stamina, and the ability to operate machinery are key requirements for the role.

Key duties and responsibilities

• General cleaning: Sweeping, mopping, and polishing floors; dusting surfaces; and emptying trash receptacles in various areas, including offices, restrooms, and production floors.
• Heavy-duty cleaning: Operating high-pressure washers to clean tanks, vats, and external structures; using industrial vacuums to remove dust and ash from hard-to-reach areas; and degreasing machinery.
• Specialized tasks: Decontaminating machinery and work areas, cleaning construction sites, removing graffiti, and cleaning external areas like roofs and walls.
• Waste management: Safely removing, handling, and disposing of hazardous waste and other industrial byproducts.
• Equipment maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on cleaning equipment and ensuring supplies are stocked and stored correctly.
• Safety and reporting: Following strict safety procedures, wearing appropriate protective gear, and reporting any potential hazards to a supervisor.

Required skills and qualifications

• Physical fitness: Ability to handle heavy equipment and perform physically demanding tasks, often in potentially unpleasant conditions.
• Mechanical aptitude: Ability to operate a variety of machinery, both for cleaning and sometimes for basic maintenance or inspection.
• Safety awareness: A strong understanding of and adherence to safety regulations and procedures.
• Attention to detail: A commitment to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Communication: Ability to follow instructions and report potential hazards or issues to supervisors

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $18 to $22 per hour, DOE

Pay Transparency: A reasonable estimate of the available hourly pay scale for this position is $18 to $22 per hour, DOE. The actual compensation offered may vary depending on qualifications and other factors essential to the performance of duties and is determined by the hiring authority.
