h/care is proud to announce an available full-time position for an Experienced Hospice Aide in the heart of West Phoenix. This opportunity is designed for dedicated healthcare professionals who are passionate about providing compassionate care to patients in the final stages of their lives. The role of a Hospice Aide is pivotal within our organization, as you will be directly impacting the quality of life of our patients and their families.
Please note, this is not a remote job. The successful candidate will be required to attend our facilities and patient homes in Central Phoenix. Duties and Responsibilities
- Caring for an average of 10 to 12 hospice patients in various settings, including group homes, healthcare facilities, and private residences.
- Providing direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
- Assisting patients with personal care tasks, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and maintaining hygiene.
- Observing and reporting on patient conditions, behaviors, symptoms, and the physical environment.
- Administering prescribed non-medical treatments, like basic wound care, under the direction of healthcare professionals.
- Supporting registered healthcare staff by maintaining accurate, complete, and up-to-date patient records.
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Ensuring a compassionate presence, lending emotional support, and promoting the dignity and comfort of terminally ill patients.
- Implementing strategies to manage pain and other symptoms in consultation with healthcare providers.
- Providing necessary housekeeping duties, dietary support, and utilizing mobility devices and transport techniques appropriately.
- Exhibiting the highest standards of customer service, empathy, and respect to patients, families, and colleagues.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Hospice Aide or in a similar caregiving role within a hospice, long-term care, or hospital setting.
- Completion of an accredited Hospice Aide training program or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to meet visit schedules in Central Phoenix area.
- Ability to handle physical workload; able to lift patients, maneuver mobility assistance devices, and stand/walk for prolonged periods.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Current CPR certification or willingness to become certified.
- Must be a self-starter, showing high levels of independence, initiative, and accountability.
- Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for some weekend, evening, or night shifts as needed.
- Commitment to maintain confidentiality and adhere to health and safety guidelines.
- A deep commitment to positively impact the lives of others; demonstrated compassion for the terminally ill and their families.
