Job Title: Assembler – 2nd Shift Job Description

This 2nd shift assembler role focuses on performing complex mechanical assembly of components and subassemblies in a modern, air-conditioned manufacturing facility. You will interpret detailed blueprints and schematics, troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues, support and mentor junior assemblers, and ensure products meet strict quality and safety standards. The position operates Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. and involves working with both manual and powered tools on an assembly line within a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities
  • Execute complex assembly tasks, including advanced mechanical assembly of components and subassemblies on an assembly line.
  • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications to ensure accurate assembly of parts.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics to resolve issues in assembly processes and product functionality.
  • Coach and train lower-level assemblers, providing guidance on assembly techniques, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety, regulatory, and compliance standards across the assembly team.
  • Continuously review assembly processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste, following lean manufacturing guidelines.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other departments to resolve design or manufacturing issues that impact assembly.
  • Perform final quality inspections and functional testing to confirm that assembled products meet company standards and specifications.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and materials required for assembly and help ensure stock levels remain at optimal levels.
  • Assist with the setup, calibration, and operation of automated or semi-automated equipment used in the assembly process.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to assemble parts consistently with a low error rate.
  • Follow general production and assembly line procedures to meet production deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Provide continuous improvement suggestions based on lean manufacturing principles to support efficiency gains.
  • Support occasional weekend work when required to meet production demands.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2–5 years of experience in assembly or manufacturing roles, which may include mechanical assembly, mechanic work, military experience, soldering, cable harness work, or electronics, with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in mechanical assembly of both small and larger parts within a production or assembly line environment.
  • Expertise in reading and interpreting complex technical documents, including engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for resolving assembly and product functionality issues.
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor junior team members and contribute to overall team development.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control processes and manufacturing best practices.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for precise and consistent assembly work.
  • Experience working in general production and assembly line settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with engineers, designers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb portable ladders as required.
  • Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination for detailed assembly tasks.
  • Willingness and ability to use required personal protective equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics is ideal but not required.
  • Experience terminating J panels is preferred.
  • Apprentice-level electrical work experience is a plus.
  • Background in green industry or energy-related manufacturing is beneficial.
  • Comfort working with modern, industry 4.0 manufacturing technology.
  • Openness to occasional weekend work when production needs arise.

Work Environment

The role is based in a modern, air-conditioned manufacturing facility equipped with industry 4.0 technology in Mesa, Arizona. Standard hours are Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with the potential for occasional weekend work when needed to meet production demands. Work is performed on an assembly line and in general production areas using hand tools, power tools, and automated or semi-automated equipment. The environment requires frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing portable ladders, as well as the ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds. Good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination are essential for handling components and performing detailed assembly tasks. Personal protective equipment is required and provided, supporting a safety-focused workplace that combines advanced manufacturing technology with comfortable, climate-controlled conditions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.30/hr.
