As a Field Appraiser, you will capture property information primarily for basic residential, commercial, land, agricultural, mobile home properties and improvements and/or business personal property accounts. You will also collect and record data electronically to conduct appraisal analysis and to support the accuracy of property information used by CAMA to produce mass appraisal models. We Require
  • Six months of experience in business, appraisal, or property-related environments such as real estate construction, property inspection, titling mortgage, or other similar environments
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
  • Experience performing discovery, measurement, verification, or other technical functions related to property appraisal and assessment
  • Experience with computer-assisted sketching/drawing programs
  • Experience with spreadsheets and other computer software programs
Job Contributions
  • Capture property data in a timely and accurate manner by conducting field visits to properties, measuring properties, noting property descriptions, counts, and relevant property characteristics
  • Canvass for new properties, improvements, special features, changes, or additions to value by traveling to assigned areas or using the desktop review process and aerial photography
  • Gather information about existing properties and properties under construction from various property representatives
  • Document property notes, measurements, field inspection dates, and other information accurately by hard copy or electronically in the system
  • Create and update scaled property drawings based on field measurements, blueprints, plans, or CAD files including property details to accurately represent properties
  • Ensure the accuracy of data in the Assessor's records by performing basic mathematical calculations including the determination of square footage, fractions, or decimals using standard formulas
  • Contribute to the accuracy and currency of Assessor data by taking photographs and drawing sketches of properties and entering these into the Assessor's electronic records
  • Manage time in the field without direct supervision and organize work for best production, accuracy, and timely completion, which includes maintaining the daily itinerary and mileage log
Working Conditions
  • Fieldwork can include exposure to extreme heat, cold, and dangerous flora and fauna
  • This position has the opportunity for a hybrid schedule with field visits and telecommuting.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
    • Mileage is reimbursed at the federal rate
  • Must take a class and pass a test on “Introduction to Property Tax” within 30 days of hire
  • Must take a class and pass a test in “Data Collection” within three months of hire
