Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer with advanced expertise in Tableau architecture, enterprise analytics, and data-driven strategy . This role serves as both a hands-on BI contributor and the enterprise Tableau Cloud platform owner , responsible for architecting, administering, and optimizing scalable, secure reporting environments.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical knowledge in data modeling, SQL, cloud data warehousing, API integrations, and analytics engineering with strong business acumen to drive actionable insights across executive and operational teams. This position plays a critical role in ensuring reporting accuracy, governance, and performance in a fast-changing, data-centric environment.

Key Responsibilities

Tableau Architecture & Platform Administration

• Architect, administer, and optimize Tableau Cloud environments for scalability, performance tuning, and enterprise-grade security.
• Manage user provisioning, role-based access control (RBAC), permissions models, and authentication integrations , including support for external partners.
• Define and enforce enterprise BI governance standards , including dashboard design frameworks, metadata management, and reporting best practices.
• Monitor system performance, capacity planning, and lifecycle management of BI assets.

Data Engineering Collaboration & Modeling

• Partner with Data Engineering to design and optimize data models, semantic layers, and reporting schemas for scalable self-service analytics.
• Utilize advanced SQL querying, aggregation, and validation techniques to ensure data integrity and accuracy across multiple systems.
• Work with cloud-based data warehouses such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Google BigQuery to support enterprise reporting solutions.
• Document business logic, KPIs, metric definitions, and data flows to ensure transparency and governance compliance.

Analytics, Reporting & Business Intelligence

• Develop executive dashboards and operational reporting solutions that support strategic decision-making, performance monitoring, and KPI tracking.
• Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, forecasting opportunities, and business performance drivers.
• Ensure consistency and reconciliation across reporting layers to maintain trusted data sources.
• Present insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders with clarity and precision.

Integration, Automation & APIs

• Embed Tableau dashboards and reports into Java-based web applications and enterprise platforms to enhance user experience.
• Leverage Tableau APIs for automation, metadata extraction, system integration, and workflow optimization.
• Utilize Python for automation, advanced analytics, and integration scripting where applicable.

Governance, Security & Compliance

• Implement and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards including GDPR, CPRA, CCPA, and SOX.
• Maintain strict data privacy, compliance, and security controls across BI environments.
• Establish auditability and documentation standards to support enterprise reporting governance.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Serve as the company-wide Tableau subject matter expert (SME) and mentor junior analysts and BI team members.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Finance, Sales, Claims, and Operations to define metrics and reporting requirements.
• Drive alignment on enterprise KPIs and performance measurement standards.
• Thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and evolving analytics tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field , or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience delivering Business Intelligence solutions , including executive dashboards, operational reporting, and analytics frameworks.
• 5+ years of experience architecting and administering enterprise Tableau environments , including Tableau Cloud.
• Deep expertise in Tableau platform setup, authentication configuration, performance optimization, and governance architecture .
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and strong understanding of data modeling concepts for analytics and reporting .
• Experience working with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar).
• Hands-on experience with Tableau APIs, system integrations, and embedded analytics .
• Proficiency in Python for analytics and automation workflows .
• Strong knowledge of data governance, regulatory compliance, and privacy standards .
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating across cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments.
