Building Automation Project Manager (Commercial)
Job Summary
As our Building Automation (Controls ) **Project Manager **you will be responsible for bidding, managing, and executing building automation projects for our customer clients including providing leadership to our field teams. In additional you will be asked to acquire new commercial, industrial, and institutional accounts by developing relationships with owners, facility managers, and management companies.
Job Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Coordination
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with clients to define project requirements, expectations, and deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Lead a team of engineers, technicians, and subcontractors to execute Building Automation projects.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the project, ensuring that tasks are completed on schedule.
Growing and Creating New Customer Relationships
- Responsible for managing existing customer relationships and developing new leads with facility managers and building owners
- “Walk” buildings, roofs, and other areas to obtain an understanding of the client’s facility
- Estimate, negotiate, and prepare detailed proposals for service contracts, repair quotes, and retrofit projects
Resource Management
- Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and services for building automation installations.
- Track inventory and manage suppliers and subcontractors for timely delivery of resources.
- Monitor labor and resource usage to stay within the project’s budget.
Budget and Financial Management
- Develop and manage project budgets and ensure that the project stays within financial parameters.
- Report and walk through monthly cost / WIP reports with the Business President.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Inspect building automation installations to ensure they meet design specifications, codes, and standards.
- Ensure timely resolution of any design or installation issues that arise during the project.
Post-Project Handover
- Oversee the commissioning and testing of building automation systems to ensure operational efficiency.
- Manage project close-out, including final inspections, documentation, and handover to clients.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of Building Automation project management experience. A background with both building automation and mechanical knowledge and full understanding of HVAC controls design is highly desired.
- Experience in Education, Healthcare, and/or industrial markets preferred.
- Selling to both C-level and technical buyer
- Experience using all Microsoft 365 applications.
- Blue Beam or PDF editing software (equivalent) experience is preferred.
- Must be willing to work in a team environment consisting of several project administrative staff employees.
- Oversee 3-7 projects at a time depending on contract value.
- No out of state travel required. Majority of projects are within a 1-2 hour radius from the office.
- Full time position with estimated 45 hours per week at a salary position.
