Project Manager (Substation)
Our growing Power Delivery team is looking for a Project Manager (and Assistant Project Manager candidates) to join our Phoenix, Arizona office. This role will focus on managing substation design projects ranging from 12-kV to 500-kV, including brownfield sites, switching stations, and renewable interconnections.
This is a leadership-focused role for someone with a strong engineering background, a proactive mindset, and the ability to manage complex projects from concept through closeout. You will work directly with clients, subcontractors, internal teams, and regulatory agencies to ensure safe, timely, and profitable project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full lifecycle of substation projects: planning, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and closeout.
Develop and oversee project budgets, schedules, scopes, and deliverables .
Serve as the primary point of contact with clients for project updates, strategic planning, and issue resolution.
Lead site mobilization and demobilization planning and support construction managers in implementation.
Prepare RFPs, scopes of work, and bid packages; support vendor selection and contract negotiation.
Oversee project documentation, permitting, quality control, safety compliance, and field audits.
Support coordination of project teams and disciplines including engineering, procurement, construction, and controls.
Ensure timely reporting on project performance, cost tracking, procurement issues, and risks.
Maintain accurate invoicing, change management documentation, and project closeout materials.
Support ongoing client relationships and help foster future business opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum 7 years of experience in high-voltage substation (physical and P&C) projects.
Minimum 3 years of direct project management experience .
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience working with public, utility, and government clients on large-scale infrastructure projects.
Must be willing to travel up to 15% as needed.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the company’s Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
