Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator

Job Title: Clinical Research Nurse Job Description This role involves participating in early-phase clinical research, specifically focusing on First in Human trials. The position allows for progression into early Phase I/II trials, providing an exciting opportunity for professional growth in clinical research. Responsibilities + Conduct study activities as delegated by the Principal Investigator in compliance with study protocol, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable FDA regulations. + Administer prescribed study and concomitant medications. + Perform phlebotomy and handle the collection, processing, and shipment of biological samples. + Perform ECGs, monitor vital signs, and conduct other specialized nursing procedures. + Ensure accurate implementation of time/event schedules during the trial, following the visit map and scheduling patient visits according to the trial protocol. + Maintain laboratory kits inventory and ensure the accuracy of temperature logs for temperature-controlled equipment. + Administer questionnaires and ensure patient compliance with diet requirements as stated in the diet plan or trial protocol. + Monitor and record patient responses to treatment, adverse events, and serious adverse events, coordinating medical care with investigators, sub-investigators, and the Medical Director. + Ensure accurate and detailed on-time documentation. + Prepare for participant study visits, including prepping source documents, visit maps, lab kits, and scheduling transportation. + Conduct post-study visit activities, including managing stipends, completing source documentation, and entering data in EDC systems. + Ensure study-specific training is completed as per the delegation log. + Advise on the operational feasibility of trials, including assessment of required resources and review of study manuals. + Handle foreseeable medical emergencies and maintain an emergency kit. + Work with the study team to assist in study set-up and initiation, ensuring adequate inventory of investigational products and supplies. + Participate in the review and development of internal standard documentation for research processes. + Attend trial team and relevant sponsor meetings, providing regular updates on study progress. + Perform other job duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited institution. + State of Arizona Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure. + Ability to provide direct nursing care and consultation to patients. + Detail-oriented and capable of establishing and maintaining excellent rapport with patients. + Ability to draw blood, administer IVs, and perform standard nursing procedures. + Knowledge of patient evaluation and triage procedures. + Ability to observe, assess, and record patient symptoms, reactions, and progress. + Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards. + Strong interpersonal and communication skills. + Ability to work flexible hours as required by the trial protocol. + Organizational skills and the ability to plan activities in advance. + Team spirit, reliability, discipline, accuracy, and solution-oriented thinking. + Basic knowledge of MS Office. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Prior working experience with the principles and procedures of clinical research. + Knowledge of facilities, instruments, and equipment used in clinical research. + Understanding of ethical principles and federal and state regulations governing the participation of human subjects in clinical research. + Knowledge of FDA regulations. + CPR/ACLS certification, GCP, phlebotomy, and IATA training. + Support for training, initial certifications, and recertifications as necessary. + Knowledge of the Spanish language preferred. Work Environment The position is based in a Phase I Clinic in North Phoenix. Work is conducted in a medical/clinical environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials and situations requiring precautions and protective equipment. The role involves moderate physical activity, including handling average-weight objects up to 35 pounds and standing or walking for more than four hours per day. All OSHA-required training to ensure employee safety will be provided Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Phoenix, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $110000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
