Position Summary
A Tinter is responsible for preparing, matching, and maintaining accurate color formulations to meet customer requirements for products such as paints, coatings, and finishes. This role ensures consistent color quality, maintains precise records, and supports the production team by preparing samples, tint packs, and custom mixes. The Tinter plays a key role in delivering high-quality products that meet both internal and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Color Matching – Accurately match colors to customer requirements using color-matching tools, software, and equipment (e.g., spectrophotometers).
2. Record Keeping – Create and maintain detailed records of formulas, adjustments, and color matches to ensure repeatability and accuracy.
3. Sample Boards – Prepare sample boards to showcase available colors and finishes for customer reference and approval.
4. Mixing Buckets – Measure and mix pigments, bases, and additives in correct proportions using mixers and dispensing systems to ensure consistent results.
5. Tint Packs – Prepare pre-measured tint packs for customer or production use, properly labeled and organized.
6. Quality Control – Conduct visual inspections and use testing tools to confirm that all tints and batches meet required specifications and standards.
7. Reporting Problems – Identify and report issues in the tinting area (equipment, materials, or processes), work with supervisors to determine root causes, and suggest corrective actions.

Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of color theory and mixing techniques.
• Ability to work with precision and attention to detail.
• Experience with color-matching tools and software (preferred).
• Strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly.
• Team-oriented, with good communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move paint buckets and materials (up to 65 lbs).
• Standing for extended periods during mixing and preparation.
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
