Sales Specialist
This position is based in the northeast USA, responsible for revenue development through sales activity primarily targeting corporate, mice and leisure segments in the USA, with customers who travel internationally.
This includes both implementing business strategies to maximize revenues from existing accounts and "new business development", applying consultative selling skills. Accounts will include a mix of current travel industry customers and strategically important prospects. The position is supported by inside sales & marketing staff.
Responsibilities
- In-person and telephone sales calls
- Contract negotiations
- Participation in conference calls & periodic team and client meetings, detailed reporting on sales activities in salesforce
- Organizing and participating in joint sales calls with clients
- Partnering with marketing team on promotional activities
- Attending industry events and compiling market intelligence
- Providing input and recommendations on sales policies and collaborating with other team members toward the fulfillment of goals.
Requirements
- Hotel Sales experience, selling global brands
- Travel Industry contacts: Corporate, meetings & incentives, consortium & travel agency
- Experience with the corporate & mice contracting process
- Aptitude for cultivating customer relationships
- Experience in account strategy design, call planning & sales process execution
- Team player, self-starter, professional communication & interpersonal skills
- Driven to overcome challenges, close sales and produce exemplary results
- Analytical acumen: ability to translate data into an executable action plan
- Attention to detail & planning
- High ethical standards and concern for customer care
- Enjoy a challenging, variable, and fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and SFDC
- Willingness and availability to travel and make in-person sales calls
- At least 3 years’ minimum business sales development experience, ideally related to the travel industry

The base pay range represents the low and high ends of Discover the World’s salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, experience, and other qualifications.
This role is also eligible for comprehensive benefits + 401k.
