Maintenance Technician

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day maintenance and repair of a commercial facility. This position is responsible for performing general building maintenance, carpentry, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance to ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and operating efficiently.

The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on maintenance professional with strong carpentry skills and experience performing a wide variety of building maintenance tasks.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday
  • 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Limited overtime available
  • Participation in an on-call rotation is required:
    • Every 4 weeks while staffing levels are developing
    • Approximately every 6 weeks when fully staffed

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs throughout the facility.
  • Install, remove, and repair interior and exterior doors, hardware, and related components.
  • Complete carpentry projects including framing, trim work, drywall repairs, and general building repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and complete basic repairs involving HVAC equipment, mechanical systems, lighting, and electrical components.
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs including faucets, toilets, fixtures, and piping components.
  • Replace lighting fixtures, bulbs, and ballasts as needed.
  • Move office furniture, equipment, machinery, and materials throughout the facility.
  • Safely operate forklifts, aerial lifts, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors performing specialized maintenance work.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas while following all company and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Respond to facility maintenance requests and participate in the on-call rotation as scheduled.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5–10 years of commercial or industrial maintenance experience.
  • Strong experience performing general building maintenance and repairs.
  • Demonstrated carpentry experience, including installing and removing doors and completing finish repairs.
  • Experience troubleshooting basic HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Forklift Certification.
  • Aerial Lift Certification.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests while working independently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work including climbing ladders, working from aerial lifts, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial office, healthcare, manufacturing, or industrial facilities.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Basic welding, painting, or drywall repair experience.
  • Additional trade certifications are a plus.
