Overview of the Position:
The Imports/Customs Coordinator is responsible for managing customs clearance processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and handling documentation for international shipments; the critical role in facilitating international trade and ensuring that all customs processes are handled efficiently and in accordance with legal requirements.
What the Role Involves:
- Coordinate Customs Clearance: Manage and oversee the customs clearance processes for both import and export shipments, ensuring timely and efficient handling of goods.
- Documentation Management: Prepare, review, and organize all necessary customs documentation, including invoices, shipping manifests, and other required paperwork to facilitate smooth customs processing.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with all relevant customs laws and regulations, staying updated on changes in legislation that may affect import and export activities.
- Communication: Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers, and customs authorities to resolve any issues or delays that may arise during the customs clearance process.
- Tracking and Reporting: Monitor incoming international shipments, track their status, and provide updates to relevant parties, ensuring transparency and timely information flow.
- Problem Resolution: Identify and address any shipment or import issues, working proactively to resolve them and minimize disruptions to the supply chain.
- Maintain Knowledge: Keep abreast of current customs regulations, procedures, and best practices to ensure effective coordination and compliance in all customs-related activities.
What we’re looking for:
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
- A thorough understanding of international trade laws and practices.
- 2-4 years of proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills are important for liaising with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs officials.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES) preferred.
❇ It would be beneficial (but not essential) if you also have:
- Experience in a battery, automotive, or electronics manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to work in a bilingual environment (Korean/English).
