Senior Digital Hardware Designer

Overview
Acara Solutions is seeking a Senior Digital Hardware Designer to join our client's team supporting advanced defense and intelligence systems. This role focuses on the design, development, and testing of complex electronic systems-including radar, communications, and digital signal processing equipment-critical to national security missions.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and test digital hardware systems and components (PCBs, processors, FPGAs, SoCs).
• Develop innovative, integrated solutions to meet evolving customer needs.
• Lead schematic capture and multi-layer PCB design with controlled impedance and blind/micro-vias.
• Conduct signal integrity and crosstalk analysis, stress/worst-case analysis, and high-reliability design reviews.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to deliver mission-critical systems.

Job Requirements

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in:
  • Schematic capture and multi-layer PCB design.
  • Working with microprocessors, microcontrollers, FPGAs, and SoCs.
  • Exercising independent judgment and initiative in complex design projects.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Mentor design tools.
• Background in high-reliability or space systems.
• Expertise in signal integrity, stress/worst-case analysis.
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor engineers.
