Job Description

Not a traveling position.

We are looking for a highly skilled Ironworker to join our growing team. This candidate must also have a history of maintaining safe work practices and take pride in a safe work environment. At EZARC, we challenge our employees to step out of their comfort zone, learn new skills, progress in their careers, and work together as a team to convert hard work into success.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Read and interpret steel erection and shop drawings.
  • Create layouts on concrete, existing structures, and materials to be fabricated. Confirm these layouts according to the drawings.
  • Shakeout steel in order of erection sequence per drawings.
  • Prepare hardware needed for materials to be erected.
  • Determine proper rigging slings and hardware according to the weight of the load.
  • Ensure that all rigging tools are safe and reliable before each use.
  • Establish effective communication with the crane operator and crew members using radio or hand signals.
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment, tools, or defective material and notify Foreman.
  • Fabricate metal parts such as metal frames, columns, beams or girders, and pipe according to blueprints or revisions from Supervisor.
  • Work alongside a crew to perform the erection of structural steel members.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety culture.
  • Exhibit efficient leadership skills to perform tasks on tight deadlines.
  • Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, to ensure the safety of workers and materials.
  • Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using push sticks or tag lines.
  • Select rigging gear such as cables, nylon straps, pulleys, and winches, according to the weight of the load.
  • Control movement of heavy equipment or loads through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain falls, come-along, and other equipment.
  • Dismantle and store rigging equipment after each use.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Mark or tag material with the proper job numbers, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
  • Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
  • Clean or degrease parts, using wire brushes, portable grinders, or chemical baths.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torches, straightening presses, and hand tools.
  • Gouge metals, using the air-arc gouging process.
  • Preheat workpieces before welding or bending, using torches or wed burners.
  • Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
  • Hoist steel beams, girders, and columns into place, using cranes, or signal hoisting equipment operators to lift and position structural-steel members.
  • Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings, such as cables, pulleys, or hooks, to move heavy equipment or materials.
  • Erect metal or precast concrete components for structures, such as buildings, bridges, dams, towers, storage tanks, fences, or highway guard rails.

Qualifications:

  • Must be willing to relocate to Utah.
  • 4+ years of experience as an Ironworker.
  • Experience with tight deadlines and strict safety requirements.
  • Ability to operate a telescopic forklift, boom lift, and scissor lift.
  • Ability to weld 3G and 4G with different welding applications.
  • Any OSHA/MSHA or other safety certifications are a plus.

  • Takes pride in accomplishing quality work.
  • Great communication skills, especially with the crane or forklift operator using hand signals or radio.
  • Discretion in phone usage.
  • Comfortable with working at heights.
  • Experience in bull-rigging is a plus.
  • Heavy industrial experience in shutdowns or turnaround is a plus.
