Position: Special Education Teacher
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Assignment Dates: August 5, 2026 – May 27, 2027
Schedule: Full-Time
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to lead a medically fragile self-contained classroom for the 2026–2027 school year. This role involves providing specialized instruction and collaborating with a team of support staff to meet the unique educational and medical needs of students.
Position Details
- Full-time, school-year position
- Medically fragile self-contained classroom
- Caseload of approximately 7 students
- Supported by 3 classroom assistants
Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized instruction aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and student progress
- Collaborate with classroom assistants, related service providers, administrators, and families
- Create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment for students with complex needs
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations
- Support students' academic, functional, communication, and social-emotional development
Qualifications
- Arizona Moderate/Severe Special Education License preferred
- Arizona Mild/Moderate Special Education License will also be considered
- Experience working with medically fragile students or in self-contained classrooms is preferred
- Strong collaboration, classroom management, and communication skills
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation
