Who We Are:
The Laveen Baptist Church, a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, founded in 1943, is a family- oriented, mission-minded community of Christ followers situated in a rapidly growing suburb of Phoenix Arizona.
Position of Senior Pastor:
The Senior Pastor must be a believer as defined by our statement of faith and conforming to the moral standard of an overseer as defined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. The Senior Pastor must be called and committed to the role of shepherd as defined in 1 Peter 5:1-4. The Senior Pastor must show a manifestation of the gifts of service from the Holy Spirit and adhere to sound doctrine, based on the Bible, to benefit and protect the body of Christ. He reports to the Elder Team, oversees the Staff Team, and is a full-time (exempt) employee.
Qualifications:
· Spiritual maturity and a positive attitude of professionalism, patience, humility, respect, empathy, compassion, active listening, and grace when working with staff, volunteers, and congregation.
· Adherence to the Church Statement of Faith and Baptist Faith. Must be, or willing to be a member of Laveen Baptist Church
· Master of Divinity preferred.
· Minimum of 5 years of ministry leadership experience.
· Knowledge and ability to use computers and related technology efficiently and have knowledge of multiple computer programs.
· Dedication to excellence, strong administration and organizational skills, and the ability to work well with church staff and volunteers.
· Pass a background check prior to employment and every three years for term of employment.
Responsibilities:
· Provide overall leadership to LBC in setting a vision, strategy, and plan for the ministries of LBC.
· Serve as the primary pastor/teacher and shepherd of the church providing Biblical teaching, preaching, and oversight in our worship services and at other opportunities. Provide substitutes during vacations and other absences.
· Serve as a permanent member of the Elder Team as one of its equal members.
· Serve as point of contact from the Elder Team to the Staff Team.
· Serve as the Staff Team leader. Conduct weekly Staff Team meetings and administer annual evaluations to ensure the Staff Team operates with excellence.
· As shepherd, maintains appropriate confidentiality.
· Work with the various ministries (or delegate other church staff) to make sure that our ministry leaders are well-trained and able to do their work with excellence.
· Provide leadership for seasonal services, funerals, weddings, and other services.
· Provide Biblical counseling and mentorship to LBC members in times of crisis and on personal issues. Refer to other church Staff Team members and counseling professionals when appropriate.
· Cooperate with local, state, and national convention leaders and represent our church as needed.
· Follow and ensure adherences of all church guidelines, including the church constitution, bylaws, financial and personnel policies.
