Position Overview

Case Aides assist Case Managers in providing interpretation, core services and/or basic needs support to newly arrived refugees, asylee, and parolee clients. This involves coordination with other public and private organizations which provide services to these populations. This position assists refugees, asylees, and parolees in accessing appropriate providers, achieve economic self-sufficiency and reach their goals throughout the service period.

Key Responsibilities

Interpretation Services:

• Provide interpretation for clients during meetings with staff, medical appointments, and other service-related appointments.

Client Support and Core Services:

• Help deliver essential services as outlined in refugee service contracts and cooperative agreements.
• These services may include:
  • Refugee orientation sessions
  • Assistance with Social Security applications
  • Support with health screenings
  • Help with school enrollment
  • Other resettlement-related tasks as needed

Reporting and Communication:

• Assist in providing detailed reports of all services and client interactions each day.
• Submit reports to the case manager in a timely and organized manner.
• Clearly communicate any issues or concerns with the case manager so they can be addressed quickly and efficiently.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required
• Experience working with refugees and/or diverse communities
• Provide and maintain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, clear the Central Registry Background Check and a criminal background and motor vehicle screening; must maintain valid AZ Driver’s License, a clear driving record and reliable transportation
• Ability to work evenings or weekends when necessary

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to speak, read, and write English
• Ability to speak, read, and write in another language commonly used by our client population, specifically Dari and Pashto
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations
• Ability to relate well with families of varied lifestyles, backgrounds and ethnicities

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods.
• The employee frequently is required to use hands to hold objects and operate office equipment.
• The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds.
