Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Construction Surveyor with strong expertise in building digital terrain models (DTMs) for construction equipment, delivering topographic surveys (topos), and preparing import/export volumes for earthwork estimating. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Agtek and/or Trimble Business Center (TBC) and a strong understanding of GPS-guided machine control systems, grading workflows, and data management for civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

3D Surface Modeling & Machine Control

• Develop accurate 3D surface models for GPS machine control using Agtek, TBC, or similar software.
• Export models and coordinate files compatible with Trimble, Topcon, or other field systems.
• Support construction field crews with model updates and revisions as needed.

Topographic Surveys

• Generate detailed topographic survey deliverables from drone data, field shots, or point clouds.
• Process and clean survey data to create accurate surfaces for design validation or earthwork quantification.

Import/Export Quantities for Estimating

• Generate cut/fill maps and quantity reports for estimating dirt work projects.
• Provide import/export volume calculations to support bidding, planning, and project phasing.
• Collaborate closely with estimators to refine takeoffs and validate assumptions.

Collaboration & Project Support

• Work with estimators, project managers, and field supervisors to ensure modeling accuracy.
• Manage multiple project deliverables, version control, and digital file organization.
• Communicate survey/modeling needs effectively with internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

Required:

• 3+ years of experience in construction survey or modeling roles.
• Proficiency in Agtek Earthwork 4D or Trimble Business Center.
• Solid understanding of GPS machine control systems and grading workflows.
• Experience with field surveying tools (GPS rovers, total stations).
• Experience with CAD-based platforms for importing/exporting design files.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in surface modeling and volume calculations.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, grading sheets, and site layouts.

Preferred:

• FAA Part 107 drone license (for UAV-based topo surveys).
• Civil construction background in earthwork, grading, or site development.
