Role Overview

You’ll build secure, scalable, and high-performance APIs and services supporting both patient- and provider-facing applications. This is a senior-level, individual contributor role for someone who wants to lead through technical depth and craftsmanship. You’ll work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, compliant, and intelligent systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, secure, and maintainable backend systems using Python frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, or Django).

• Build and maintain REST and GraphQL APIs that power our mobile and web applications.

• Implement best practices for data protection and secure storage of PHI/PII, including encryption and access control.

• Design robust authentication, token management, and session handling mechanisms.

• Architect and manage multi-tenant systems with configurable data, branding, and feature sets.

• Develop data models and queries optimized for performance using Postgres.

• Implement infrastructure automation and deployment pipelines using Terraform, ArgoCD, and GCP services.

• Containerize and orchestrate services using Docker and Kubernetes for reliability and scalability.

• Integrate LLM-based features using Langraph and Gemini to power AI-driven experiences.

• Build real-time, event-driven systems leveraging Pub/Sub and caching layers for responsiveness.

• Design and integrate HL7 interfaces for healthcare data interoperability.

• Implement and maintain TTS (Text-to-Speech) and STT (Speech-to-Text) AI models for voice-enabled experiences.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure backend systems meet product and compliance goals.

• Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot backend performance and scalability.

Qualifications

Required:

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.

• Strong proficiency in Python and frameworks such as FastAPI , Flask , or Django .

• Hands-on experience with Postgres for data modeling and performance optimization.

• Deep understanding of secure storage (PHI/PII), token/session management , and multi-tenancy .

• Experience building and scaling REST and GraphQL APIs.

• Strong grasp of infrastructure as code using Terraform and ArgoCD .

• Experience with GCP , Kubernetes , and Docker for deployment and scalability.

• Familiarity with Langraph and Gemini for AI and LLM integrations.

• Experience building Pub/Sub , caching , and event-driven architectures.

• Understanding of HL7 data exchange standards in healthcare.

• Knowledge of TTS/STT AI models for speech-based experiences.

Preferred:

• Experience with LiveKit for real-time communications.

• Familiarity with gRPC for service-to-service communication.

• Understanding of API versioning and backward compatibility strategies.
