This role will be located at the Copper World Project, approximately 45 minutes southwest of Tucson in Helvetia, Arizona.
Purpose of Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Open Pit Mining Surveyor to join our team. This critical role involves the precise measurement and mapping of our open pit mine and construction mining projects to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable operations. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert with a strong understanding of mining operations, mining surveying and a commitment to safety.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Conduct a variety of surveys within the open pit mine, including pit volume surveys, stockpile reconciliations, blast hole layouts, and pre- and post-blast surveys.
- Utilize advanced surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, and drones/UAVs to collect accurate data. Propeller knowledge is a plus.
- Prepare detailed survey reports, plans, and 3D models using specialized mining software (e.g. TBC , Deswik, Mine Sight, or Vulcan ).
- Monitor and analyze ground movement, wall stability, and geological features to identify potential safety hazards.
- Work closely with the mine operations, geology, and engineering teams to provide essential data for mine planning, design, and operational decisions.
- Execute photogrammetry, aerial pictures processing, posses drone pilot license. Knowledge of Propeller is a plus.
- Ensure all surveying activities comply with safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Maintain and calibrate all surveying equipment to guarantee accuracy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
- Technical degree in the field of engineering technology or advanced training in construction with appropriate trade qualifications. (e.g. CST , LSIT ) Preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as a surveyor, with specific experience in open pit mining operations or Heavy civil construction.
- Proficiency with mining-specific software packages.
- Strong knowledge of open pit mining methods, geology, and safety procedures.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a challenging and dynamic outdoor environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with CST & LSIT and other related software

The work environment will necessitate work near moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions such as hot and/or dry conditions. Work will be conducted in locations where noise, fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration may exist.
Employee will be expected to drive a company vehicle, rental vehicle and/or his/her own vehicle in the course of performing the job, Employee must be able to perform the physical functions of operating a motor vehicle, including use of eyes, ears, arms, hands, legs, and feet. Employee must be able to prove that he/she has a current and valid driver's license.
