Senior Audit Manager

Are you a hands-on safety expert with deep roots in the mechanical trades? A premier, long-established Specialty Mechanical Contractor in Dayton is seeking a Safety Manager to take full ownership of their safety and health programs.
This is a direct-hire leadership role with a firm renowned for its specialization in complex mechanical HVAC systems (chillers/towers), process piping, and Design-Build MEP services. They are looking for a visible leader to set the standard across high-stakes environments, including Healthcare, Education, High-Tech, and Industrial/Manufacturing facilities. Total Program Ownership : You will lead the Company Safety Committee and serve as the primary technical advisor on safety to the executive team.
Field Leadership : You will spend 60–70% of your time in the field, on-site moving between local jobsites (Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky) to assess risk, on-site inspections/audits, training delivery, influence safety behaviors, and office-based analysis/documentation.
Company Vehicle : A company truck is provided for this position to facilitate site visits.
What You'll Be Doing:
Culture & Leadership : Use your conflict resolution and critical thinking skills to enforce policies and influence employees at all levels.
Compliance & Technical Oversight : Inspect machinery, equipment, and jobsites to ensure strict compliance with OSHA construction standards.
Incident Management : Lead thorough investigations, conduct root-cause analysis, and collaborate with HR on Transitional Work (Return-to-Work) programs.
Collaborative Safety : Partner with warehouse personnel, foremen, and leadership to ensure safety is integrated into every project phase.
Champion Safety Excellence : Serve as the highly visible, company-wide leader, actively promoting a positive safety culture
Safety Rewards Program : Drive engagement and participation in the Company Safety Rewards Program to recognize and reinforce safe behaviors.
Regulatory Oversight : Manage all aspects of OSHA compliance, enforcing the standard for jobsite, local, and construction safety regulations.
Training & Development : Design, coordinate, and deliver safety training programs, including overseeing the Hazard Communication Program.
External Liaison : Act as the primary liaison with regulatory partners (OSHA) and emergency response partners (fire departments, rescue teams).
Schedule : Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM.
Location : Based in Dayton, Ohio, with travel to local and regional job sites from Columbus to Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky as needed.
Requirements:
Mechanical Trade Background : Solid experience in commercial/industrial mechanical contracting (e.g., Plumbing, HVAC, Piping, or Sheet Metal).
Supervisory Experience : At least 2-3 years in a safety-related supervisory capacity.
Credentials : An OSHA 30-Hour is required. OSHA 500/501, CSP, or CHST are highly valued.
Experience : 15 years of progressively responsible experience in safety, with a strong background in commercial construction. Advanced knowledge of construction OSHA standards, exceptional leadership and communication skills, strong organizational proficiency, and proven ability to manage company-wide programs.
Compensation & Benefits
Employment Type : Direct-Hire, Full-Time.
Base Salary : $90,000 – $100,000; commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Bonus Potential : Eligible for a yearly bonus based on company performance and personal milestones.
