Tech Support Specialist - EV Charging Systems

Overview:
We are seeking a customer-focused and technically skilled Technical Support Specialist to join our team in the electric vehicle (EV) charging industry. In this role, you will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, support field technicians and customers, and help ensure our charging infrastructure delivers reliable, high-quality performance.
Key Responsibilities
Customer & Field Support:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries from customers, installers, and internal teams.
- Provide real-time troubleshooting for EV chargers, backend management platforms, networking equipment, and energy management systems.
- Assist field technicians with onsite diagnostics, configuration, and commissioning of charging stations.
Technical Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to connectivity (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, 4G/5G), charging session failures, authentication, power delivery, and firmware/software errors.
- Guide customers through safe procedures such as resets, power cycles, and configuration updates.
- Escalate complex issues to engineering or product teams with clear documentation and root-cause analysis.
System Monitoring & Incident Management:
- Monitor charging station performance, identify anomalies, and proactively address potential failures.
- Maintain detailed case records, logs, and knowledge base articles.
- Track recurring issues and contribute to product improvements or feature requests.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineering, deployment, product, and quality teams to resolve systemic issues.
- Provide feedback on installation best practices and contribute to field support documentation.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to improve the reliability and usability of our solutions.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 3-5+ years in technical support, field service, or systems troubleshooting (preferably in EV charging, electrical/electronics, and IoT environments).
- Understanding of electrical/electronic systems related to charging architecture. (AC/DC, High/Low voltages, schematics).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Comfortable using ticketing systems, remote diagnostic tools, and monitoring platforms.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of EVSE standards such as OCPP, OpenADR, ISO 15118, or related protocols.
- Familiarity with SaaS platforms, Linux-based systems, and embedded firmware.
- Electrical certifications, EV charging installation experience.
- Experience in renewable energy, smart grid, or energy management technologies.

Work Environment:
- In office only position
- Occasional travel to customer sites or company facilities. ~20%
