Laboratory Technician - Water Services
Laboratory Technicians in the Laboratory Services Section of the Environmental Services Division are responsible for monitoring water quality for inorganic and organic constituents in order to maintain regulatory requirements. This position is engaged in the physical, chemical, microbiological, molecular, or process-related analyses of water and wastewater samples in accordance with federal and state laboratory requirements and internal quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) policies and procedures. Positions may be at a water production facility, a wastewater treatment plant, or a compliance laboratory.
SALARY
$16.34 (minimum) - $23.81 (maximum) hourly / $33,987 - $49,525 annually. Appointment can be made above the minimum depending upon qualifications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Three years of standard laboratory tests or instrumental analyses in a public health, crime laboratory, or utility chemical laboratory, including courses in chemistry, bacteriology, or a related field.
Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.
Moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds may be required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS – The job requirements listed above, plus:
Three years of experience in: a laboratory conducting standard laboratory tests or instrumental analyses, preferably in an environmental chemical laboratory; or a public health laboratory; or education environment laboratory with college coursework in chemistry, microbiology, environmental sciences or closely related degree, OR
Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, microbiology, environmental sciences or closely related field.
Experience with computer databases and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Experience with Environmental Protection Agency and/or Arizona Department of Health Services policies and procedures for laboratory analysis.
