Data Steward

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Steward to support data governance, data quality, data controls, and data lifecycle management across the TLS (Travel, Lifestyle & Services) data ecosystem. The ideal candidate will bring strong understanding of enterprise data governance practices, regulatory requirements, and cross‑functional data stewardship within complex, partner-driven environments.

Responsibilities

Data Governance & Policy Implementation

• Partner with TLS business, technology, and Enterprise Data Office teams to understand data flows, sourcing, and usage across the ecosystem.
• Implement enterprise data governance policies and standards (e.g., AEMP70) including data lifecycle, data classification, and data control requirements.
• Translate enterprise data policies into practical implementation for business domains.
• Support governance of Authoritative Data Sources (ADS) , Systems of Record (SOR) , and Systems of Origin (SOO) .

Data Risk, Controls & Compliance

• Identify, assess, and mitigate data risks across customer, booking, partner, and servicing data domains.
• Implement and monitor data controls aligned with enterprise Data Control Inventory and risk-based control layering.
• Oversee governance for third-party data exchanges and partner integrations to ensure proper lineage, controls, and accountability.
• Support data retention and deletion practices per enterprise retention policies (e.g., AEMP08).
• Support data incident management, root cause analysis, and remediation efforts.

Data Lineage, Quality & Metadata

• Drive documentation of data lineage from capture through consumption for analytics, reporting, and servicing use cases.
• Lead data quality initiatives, including defining and monitoring data quality rules and thresholds.
• Work with metadata and data governance tools such as Collibra or Manta .

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stewardship

• Partner with Data Stewards, Custodians, BU Data Office teams for Critical Data Element (CDE) ownership and accountability.
• Embed data governance requirements into platforms, APIs, digital products, and partner integrations.
• Oversee data governance for personalization, analytics, and customer engagement use cases.

Reporting, Metrics & Enablement

• Develop dashboards and reporting to track data governance maturity, data quality, and data risk.
• Influence and educate stakeholders to strengthen data accountability and stewardship culture .

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Data Management, Business Administration , or related field.
• 3-5+ years experience in data governance, data management, data controls, or data risk—preferably in financial services, travel, hospitality, loyalty, or digital platforms .
• Strong understanding of:
  • Data lifecycle management
  • Data lineage
  • Data quality
  • Metadata & data ownership
  • Data retention & records management
  • Regulatory requirements related to customer/transaction data
• Experience with complex data ecosystems , including third‑party integrations and partner-driven data flows.
• Familiarity with:
  • Authoritative Data Source (ADS)
  • Master Data Management (MDM)
  • Enterprise data architecture
• Experience with metadata and governance tools (Collibra, Manta).
• Experience with APIs, digital platforms, and partner ecosystems.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing abilities.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI .
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a matrixed, fast-paced environment.

Desirable (Nice-to-Have) Skills

• Professional certifications:
  • CDMP , DCAM , or similar data governance certifications
• Experience supporting personalization, analytics, or customer engagement models
• Understanding of travel-industry data such as booking flows, partner data exchanges, loyalty programs
